Traditional 3G artificial turf systems have a reputation for overheating and being uncomfortable on hot summer days. A number of studies have shown that the surface temperatures of infill synthetic turf systems can reach 93°C on days when the air temperature is 37°C (Brakeman, 2004).
NEXXFIELD’s R&D department looked into several ways to address this issue, and came up with our own TPE infill, called NexxFILL. NexxFILL is a thermoplastic elastomer with the characteristics of a conventional thermoplastic (like polypropylene or polyethylene) as well as the performance properties of a conventional thermoset rubber.
