Wimbledon is now the only Grand Slam event played on real grass. In line with developments in materials technology, particularly over the last decade, the court pace can be adapted to the level of the players. For example, adding sand materials will reduce the pace, providing an advantage to slower players with better technical skills. Conversely, by reducing ball/sand contact, the pace will be quicker, benefiting players with faster serves.
